New York Liberty Sabrina Ionescu Youngest To Record Triple Double

The WNBA is back and so far its been sooooo exciting. New faces on new teams. This season is off to a great start and the New York Liberty is 3-0. Last Season Sabrina Ionescu had a season ending injury. Ionescu who was the number 1 overall pick in 2020. She had the NCAA record for 26 triple doubles at University of Oregon.

The Liberty defeated the Minnesota Lynx 86-75. Sabrina Ionescu becomes the fastest player in WNBA history to record a triple double.  Ionescu had 26 points 12 assists and 10 rebounds to help the team to victory.  The New York Liberty has not started 3-0 in 14 years. Her first triple dub as a pro in only 6 career games. No 1 overall pick has had the leagues 10th triple double since Chelsea Gray did it in 2019.  NY Liberty star did it in her second season. She is now on a list with the great ones of the the WNBA. Sheryl Swoopes who had the leagues 1st triple double and accomplished the feat in her 59th career game. Deanna Nolan on May 2nd, 2005 was the pervious youngest.   Lisa Leslie had a triple double September 9th, 2004 scoring 29 points, 15 rebounds and 10 blocks. Ionescu has a buzzer beater in the 1st home game and now triple double in her second game at the Barley’s Center and the Liberty is off to their best start since 2007.

Liberty gets Klah Stokes back who was playing her first game overseas. Also, Natasha Howard and Minnesota’s Napheesa Collier finished their overseas season.  The 1st Quarter was full of runs as New York scored 15 points straight after trailing 4-0 and then Minnesota had 12 in a row to make it a two-point game after one period. The Lynx was only 3 for 23 from behind the 3-point arc.
