Breaking news in the NFL as Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has agreed to a new contract with the Dallas Cowboys.

After a long time working on the contract it is finally resolved and Dak Prescott will be paid a 4 year-$160 million deal with a record $126 million guaranteed. The first three years will average $42 million per year with year one Prescott will receive $75 million. Prescott has gotten the amount of years that he wanted for this contract that being 4 for this deal.

Dak Prescott has outperformed his first contract with the Dallas Cowboys. Back in 2016 he was drafted in the fourth round, pick 135 and in his first year led them to a 13-3 record. In 2018 he led the Cowboys back to the playoffs with a 10-6 record and in the wild card defeated Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks. As a fourth round pick Prescott has won NFC East titles with the Cowboys he has success on his side. Prescott with the Cowboys has a 42-27 record with the team.

While he has led the Cowboys to success it took much longer for him to receive a big contract while other quarterbacks in his draft got paid seasons ago. The first and second overall picks in the 2016 draft Jared Goff and Carson Wentz both received extensions in 2019. Both quarterbacks in this offseason have been traded away from the teams that they were drafted by. While Prescott had to play under the franchise tag and was injured last season with a dislocation of his right ankle that was suffered in week 5 the Cowboys were never the same team. After week 5, the Cowboys would lose 4 straight games with 3 of them being blow outs.

With their quarterback signed the Cowboys can now focus on building around their franchise quarterback.
