Colts Face Red Hot Bills To Start the Playoffs

Last Sunday the Buffalo Bills helped the Indianapolis Colts get into the playoffs by beating the Miami Dolphins. After securing the 2nd seed in the playoffs they will play the team they just helped into the playoffs the 7th seed Colts this Saturday.

This year the requirements to get into the AFC division playoffs was a record of 11-5 or better and the Colts barely snuck into them so little room for errors this year. The Colts face a red hot Bills team, in their last 6 games the Bills have blown teams out by double digits. It’s very impressive by the Bills to do that but out of those 6 teams that were beaten by them only 1 team made the playoffs and that’s the Pittsburgh Steelers. Even though the Bills are red hot the Colts have a good chance to win this game.

One thing the Colts have over the Bills is playoff experience. Not only did this team beat the Texans in the wildcard 2 years ago but with the editions of veteran quarterback Philip Rivers and coming off the super bowl last year defensive tackle Deforest Buckner. On both sides of the ball this team is loaded and I believe can handle the intensity of playoff football. While the Bills came off last year losing to the Texans quarterback Josh Allen didn’t have the best game to start his playoff career with passing for 264 yards and no touchdowns. With only 1 game under their belt this can be the set up for an upset.

The Colts have a good chance in this game. It’s important this team sets up the run game with rookie Jonathan Taylor. Taylor has had an impressive rookie season with 1,169 rushing yards and 11 rush touchdowns. It’s important to set up the run game with Taylor so they can control time of possession and keep Josh Allen away from the field and having one of the most experienced quarterbacks in the league in Philip Rivers it’s a big key for the both of them to control the ball. It’s time for Philip Rivers to show why he was brought in to start for this franchise. There is a lot of talent on this team but they need a quarterback to lead them. It’s time for Rivers to show what he is made of. Rivers had a better year this year than the previous one throwing for 4,169 passing yards, 24 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. But this season Rivers has not been able to drive this team down the field to win a game. It’s up to him to show up in this game.

While the Colts defense will have a tough challenge with the Bills offense and their dynamic duo quarterback Josh Allen is red hot this year with 4,544 passing yards, 37 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. Wide Receiver Stefon Diggs had an amazing season with 1,535 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns. If the Colts zone defense can hold and not give up any big plays to the Bills they have a chance this Colts defense has one of the best young secondary’s in the league with Xavier Rhodes, Kenny Moore, Julian Blackmon, and safety Khari Willis the Colts third leading tackler is returning. If the Colts can hold onto stopping the passing game of the Bills their run game is not gonna take over the game so the Colts have a clear goal of stopping the pass game.

Starting off the 2020 season NFL playoffs is gonna be an exciting game this Saturday between the Indianapolis Colts and Buffalo Bills.
